Old certificates in, a family tree you can trust out.
Kinroll is a family tree builder in ChatGPT. Share photos of birth, marriage and death certificates, type what you know, or bring a GEDCOM file. ChatGPT reads the documents; Kinroll builds the tree and keeps the source of every fact.
No account to make. Living relatives' details stay private.
How it works
Start a tree
Tell ChatGPT “Start a family tree for the Rossi family”, then say what you know: “My grandfather Giovanni Rossi was born in Lucca in 1921.”
Add the papers
Attach a photo of a certificate, a census page or an old letter. ChatGPT transcribes it, and Kinroll adds the people and dates it names, with the transcription kept as their source.
Use it anywhere
Export a GEDCOM file for Ancestry, FamilySearch or MyHeritage, download a 36 × 24 inch poster, or lay the tree out as a hardcover family book.
Every fact keeps its source
A date is only as good as the record behind it. Kinroll saves each birth, marriage, death and move with the document it came from, or with “typed in chat” or the relative who told you. When two records disagree, both dates stay, side by side, so you can decide.
- Transcriptions are stored as written, in the document's own language
- Possible duplicates are pointed out, never merged without asking
- Small numbers in the printed book point to the source list at the back
Private by default
Family trees are full of people who never signed up for one.
- Anyone born within the last 100 years with no death record counts as living: exports, posters and books show their name only, or “Private” if you prefer
- Social Security, national ID and passport numbers are removed before anything is saved
- Kinroll never receives the photos themselves, only ChatGPT's transcription
- Your tree belongs to your ChatGPT account and is shared with no one
A book for the family
Kinroll lays your tree out as an 8.5 × 11 inch hardcover: pedigree charts, a page for each family on your direct lines with every fact and its source number, the sources themselves and an index of names. Lulu prints and ships it to the United States and Canada.
Printed books open soon. You can already preview the whole book in ChatGPT, download the poster and export your tree.
Bring your tree, take it with you
Import the GEDCOM file from the genealogy program you use today, and export yours whenever you like. GEDCOM 5.5.1 is the format nearly every family tree program reads and writes, so nothing is locked in.
Questions
- Does Kinroll search records for me?
- No. Kinroll works with what you bring: documents you photograph, what you know and files you already have. It doesn't search archives or invent ancestors.
- Can I add someone who is still alive?
- Yes. They stay in your tree with everything you add, and anything that leaves it (an export, a poster or a book) shows only their name, or “Private”.
- Which documents work?
- Birth, marriage, death and baptism records, census pages, passenger lists, obituaries, gravestones, letters, family Bible pages and registry extracts, in any language ChatGPT can read.
- What does it cost?
- Building, viewing and exporting your tree and downloading the poster cost nothing. Printed books are paid for on this website at checkout.
