Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and The Open Apps, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"), for using Kinroll Family Tree in ChatGPT, the website kinroll.ambientapp.ai, and the printed books ordered through it. By using Kinroll you accept them.

Who can use Kinroll

You must be at least 13 years old to use Kinroll. You must be 18 or older, or have a parent's or guardian's permission, to order a printed book.

What Kinroll does

Kinroll helps you build a family tree from documents and information you share in ChatGPT, keeps the source of each fact, exports your tree as a GEDCOM file, draws posters, and lays your tree out as a book that you can order in print. Kinroll doesn't search records for you and doesn't check whether what you add is true.

Your content

  • You keep all rights to what you add. You give us the permission we need to store it, show it to you, export it and print it for you.
  • Only add documents and information you have the right to use. Records of living people deserve care: add only what they would be comfortable with, and remember that exports, posters and books show only living people's names unless you choose a full backup for yourself.
  • Don't use Kinroll to harass anyone, to collect information about people for purposes other than family history, or to add government ID numbers, health details, passwords or payment card details.
  • ChatGPT transcribes your documents. Transcriptions can contain mistakes; check important facts against the original.

Accuracy

Family history is built from records that can be wrong, incomplete or contradictory. Kinroll records what your sources say and shows where each fact came from; it does not guarantee that any fact is true.

Posters and GEDCOM files

Posters and GEDCOM files are provided as they are, for your personal use. Check a poster's PDF before paying a print shop to print it.

Printed books

  • Prices, shipping options and delivery estimates are shown on the checkout page before you pay. The price on Kinroll's website is never more than the price shown for the same book, copies and shipping when you order from ChatGPT, and there is no extra charge for ordering through ChatGPT.
  • Books are printed and shipped by Lulu. We ship to the countries offered at checkout.
  • You can cancel within 2 hours of paying by emailing kinroll@ambientapp.ai; after that the book goes into production.
  • Because each book is personalised, we can't accept returns of books that arrive as ordered. If a copy arrives damaged or misprinted, email us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we will reprint it free of charge.
  • If your order can't ship in the time shown at checkout, we will tell you the new date and you may cancel for a full refund.
  • Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.

Availability

We work to keep Kinroll available and your data safe, but we can't promise the service will be uninterrupted. We may change or stop features; if we stop Kinroll, we will give you at least 30 days to export your trees.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Kinroll is provided "as is" without warranties, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.

Ending

You can stop using Kinroll at any time and delete your trees by saying "Delete my family tree" in ChatGPT. We may suspend use that breaks these terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
